On January 28, 1985, many of the top American artists of the time gathered at A&M recording studios after the Grammy Awards ceremonies to record one song; "We Are the World", a benefit recording for USA FOR AFRICA, a non-profit organization that was formed by Boomtown Rats member Bob Geldolf to try and stop starvation in Africa. It won Grammys in 1985 for Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
